Just one further note, listening to your last song, The Blood of Eden by Peter Gabriel, made me cry. It's so poignant and perfect for this time. And fits exactly with your Sage Sensei. More to follow, perhaps in a post--not to refute but to build. Yes and ....
Wow! Musice and words, when they come together, isn't that life? Thank you for sharing that. Yes and... continue the exploration, not refutation.
(And, I have no idea if this is a synchronicity or not, during pigeon pose today, about 30 minutes ago, I also began to cry. Hmmmm. The last time I remember crying during yoga was in 2017. That was during a downward facing pose - crocodile, I think.)
I read the initial comments between you and Tereza on your post about your mother, Guy. I was struck then, as I am even more so after reading this, what could we be if we are willing to explore our different ideas, our different perceptions of reality, our different journeys in such 'grown up' ways!? ha ha. To see when we are 'triggered' and to understand ourselves through that rather than just 'the other'. What humans could be if we allowed emotion and understood how to communicate that feeling without trying to 'cause' feeling in the other person. Wonderful stuff. Thanks very much, a great post which has made me think deeply about our interactions with each other.
You have a clearly seen the challenge of 'growing up' into our own call and response to take responsibility for who we are, and how that creates the 'what' we are of communities and societies.
People like Gautama Buddha Jesus Christ, Carl Jung and many others 'big' and 'small' have been directing us in this direction for thousands of years. Others the opposite direction, of course! Many Popes, philosophers and scientists that may include Newton, Descarte, Machiavelli, Hobbes, Rockefeller, Rothschild, for example.
I'm so glad my effort and approach has resonated with you! Thank you for reading and commenting.
I'll reply to your email soon. (My sadhana touched some somatic trauma memory; I cried during pigeon and then likely because of it became exhausted subsequently slept about 14 hours, with a 2hr interruption betwee 11pm and 1am.)
Guy, what devotion to delve into the shadows and the sticks of the I Ching in pursuit of the slippery truth of our conversation! In the spirit of that, I've read carefully and will let your distillation steep for awhile. I'm thinking to consult a couple of oracles of my own, although your I Ching interpretation (particularly the first) could give heart to all of us in these dire times. I'm grateful for the energy and love that you put into your reflections ;-)
