Introduction
Hello and welcome to becoming a refugee in the time of covid. My name is Guy Duperreault. I’m writing / reading from México about an hour out from the centre of the delightful small city of Oaxaca. In 2022 I left Canada when my employment was suspended because I chose not to be injected with an experimental flu concoction of unknown ingredients, efficacy and risk. Having a strong yoga practice and extraordinary diet, the risk benefit ratio for me was 0 benefit. That choice took my yogic journey into truth to a new place, some kind of amazing quantum leap that has in recent months led me to with greater ease embrace a trust-fall into this amazing thing called life, in this extraordinary time of the great apocalypse wedded to the Bhagavad-Gita.
Today’s essay came as a result of a local friend’s curiosity, perhaps concern, that I hadn’t found myself drawn to the ostensible brilliance of the great atheist intellect and meditator, Sam Harris. My friend was gently insistent that I learn something of Harris and so with his prompts I broadened the tiny bit of Harris I’d been exposed to and the result was this essay.
